I came across Act your age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert in my local library on a book stand dedicated to booktok books (books popular on TikTok). I had never heard about it before, but after reading the blurb I decided that the book was worth my time and it certainly didn't disappoint. I have to say, I didn't expect the author to be so unapologetic. The book grasps you from the first moment and doesn't let you go until you finish it!
It is part of a series, the Brown sister series, but can be easily read as a standalone. I know now that I will need to read the other books about Eve's sisters as well, because I loved this one! The romantic journey is incredibly realistic and the characters are relatable, with each their own flaws and strengths. The chemistry between them is portrayed well and it sucks you immediately into their love story, making you root for them. I read this book after years of losing my love for reading, and it helped me realise that I do enjoy reading. So, this book is perfect for getting out of a reading slump!

Short summary
The book starts with Eve Brown getting reprimanded by her parents for not behaving as an adult. She is determined to show her parents wrong and decides to go look for work. She happens to pass by a B&B, run by the other main character Jacob Wayne, who is looking for a new cook. On a whim, Eve applies for the job, and is just herself, which highly annoys Jacob.
When he realises that she is his best shot, he runs after her in the rain, only to be hit by Eve's car. Now, with a broken arm, he is unable to run his B&B alone and Eve's guilt leads to her taking over Jacob's job. Once he sees how well she handles it, his wall is slowly falling down and he discovers that she is everything he ever wanted.
